Homemade Produce Wash

Our produce is sprayed with all manner of waxes, coatings and chemicals to keep them from rotting on the way to the grocery. Just like you wouldn't eat the bread bag, these should be removed before eating.

It didn't make sense to me to trade one chemical for another. So when my friend told me a secret she learned from her grandmother, I was really excited! It's simple, cheap, and best of all, my kids can do it!

Here's the video:

The recipe is really simple: 1 part white vinegar, 2 parts water. Let them soak for maybe a minute, rinse and store. My friend slices and chops for the week all at that time too. She stores them in mason jars. She separates snacks from things destined for dinner so there is no worry the family will eat all the carrots intended for tomorrow night's roast. She is way more organized than I am!
